Serbia
Serbia was the second of the two countries we visited during our 10-day Eurotrip. We spent 7 days in Romania 2 days in Belgrade. Even though it was a short time, we managed to do and see quite a lot. The first impression of Serbia, as we were passing through different towns, was of a country poorer and more deteriorated than Romania. We saw plenty of houses tumbled down and some abandoned factories.
It might had something to do with the fact that the capital of the country has been battled over in 115 wars and razed 44 times. Belgrade was settled by the Slavs in the 520s and changed hands several times between the Byzantine Empire, the Frankish Empire, the Bulgarian Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary.
But don’t let some historical facts scare you. A country that has the face of Nikola Tesla on the 100 Dinar banknote can’t be a scary country, right? Tesla museum, the church of Saint Sava, the Belgrade Fortress and many other interesting monuments, a rich and complex history and good food. All that just in the capital of a country that is not yet very touristic but that might very well become soon 🙂
2 days in Belgrade (1/2)
As you might remember from previous posts, our 10-day Eurotrip was divided into two main countries: Romania and Serbia. We spent 7 days in Romania and we were going to spend 2 days in Belgrade. Before crossing the border from Romania to Serbia, we spent 3 days in Timișoara. Well,
