Australia
It was October 2017 when my flight from Barcelona took off. It was headed for Singapur, although that and Kuala Lumpur were just a one-week layover before heading to my real destination: Work & Holiday in Australia.
After dreaming about it for so many months, the moment finally arrived. I had left my life, my job, my family and my friends back in Spain and I was getting ready to walk the path of the unknown in the land of kangaroos and koalas.
I arrived in Sydney and stayed there for 3 months. I then went to Tasmania to try to become a soccer player and, because I didn’t succeed, I ended up going to Mooroopna to do my farm work. After picking millions of apples during three months, I bought a car with a friend who came to visit from Spain. We drove 10000 km, or, in other words, from Port Lincoln to Cairns.
I spent my last 4 months in Cairns, diving in the Great Barrier Reef, working at events and at the biggest brewery in Queenstown and chasing waterfalls. All these experiences, tips and anecdotes are summarized here in form of posts. I hope they come in handy for you 🙂
Welcome to Australia!
On October the 19th, at around 11:30, I landed at Kingsford Smith International Airport in Sydney. There was no “Welcome to Australia” sign, but, still, a new adventure in a new continent was about to start. It was going to be my third time living abroad (after Sweden and California).
My life in Sydney
Work and funny trials As you might remember from the previous post, we had just found a very nice apartment nearby Bondi Junction. I would say that really was the starting point of my life in Sydney. We were sharing a room Cyprien, Gorka and your humble servant. But we
The weekend in Melbourne
We payed a visit to the second biggest city in Australia on December the 15th, Friday, 2017. I wanted to see Amelie Lens (a Belgian techno DJ who is kicking it at the moment) for a long time. In fact, she came two or three times to Barcelona during 2017 but,
Aussie Christmas
While writing this entry, it’s been 11 days since 2018 started. I’m taking advantage of my layover at Launceston’s airport to share what it’s been a different Christmas for me. Different because it’s been my first time celebrating Christmas away from home, my first time celebrating Christmas with an average
Soccer tryouts in Tasmania
It all started on the night of December the 15th. While Gorka and I were warming up, before heading to see Amelie Lens (more than a month ago, when we went to Melbourne), I checked my Facebook wall and saw a post stating that a soccer team from Tasmania was
